Kristina Kanaan has worked in the artistic sector since 1988 in Germany and the Marche region (Italy). After studying graphic design in Munich, she studied at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Macerata with Prof. Paolo Gallerani from Milan. Her focus is on sculpture. Her expressions include installation, painting and design.
Her works are internationally awarded. In 1994, she received a first prize, a scholarship from the Rotary Club International District 2090, Club Altavallesina Grottefrassassi Italy. In 1996 she received the second prize for a monument at the Ponte delle Gabbelle in Milan. In the same year she was awarded the second prize of the 13th Grand Prix d'Art d'Art Carrara / Hallstahammar and received the first prize for a sculpture in Spinetoli (Italy) Spinetoli Scultura 2007.
Kristina Kanaan is 2nd chairman of the European Art Group Frequenzen e.V., Munich and founding member of the cultural association "Il Giardino Erboso" in Monsampolo delTronto (Italy).
She expresses contemporary art in concepts. Sometimes she touches on political themes, sometimes she creates poetic works full of lightness in different materials such as stone, metal, ceramics, wood, glass and paper.
Nature is the artist's greatest source of inspiration. The element of water has particularly attracted her. She is fascinated by the infinity, the variety of colours and tones of the recurring movement of the sea. It is expressed in her sand paintings and stone works. Her sculptures are frequently models for larger works such as architectural art (Kunst am Bau) or fountains.
During her walk she finds archaic materials - sand, earth, shell limestone - which are mixed with paint and glue in an artistic process and applied to the canvas. In this way she preserves the materials and preserves their natural and ethereal form.
